Pei-Ying Lee's Artistic Cultures and Innovations: A Blend of Chinese Cultural Spirits and Contemporary Design

Exploring the Unique Public Space Design of the 25-Floor Mansion in New Taipei City

Pei-Ying Lee's inspiration for this project stemmed from the large components of installation arts, which serve as the main subject connecting different spatial areas. Upon entering the reception lobby, visitors are greeted with a large wood carving, dubbed "homing birds," installed at the center of the back wall. This artwork, with its intricate lines reminiscent of the roots of a tweak and the entanglement of coral, symbolizes the comforting emotion of people returning to their residences.

The mansion, situated amidst a well-developed traffic system and well-prepared life mechanisms, stands out with its unique Chinese cultural style. This style is brought to life through the implementation of simple and contemporary elements, reflecting the profound and delicate humanity art inherent in modern Chinese cultures.

The realization of this design was made possible through the use of sophisticated technology. The wood carving, in particular, showcases the designer's artistic prowess and the ability to create a great artistic display in the space. The mansion spans an impressive 999 square meters, providing ample space for the designer's creativity to flourish.

The roof garden is another highlight of this design. It features a stone-paved floor and wooden chairs, creating a relaxing and restful lookout. The tea house, with its small flowing water, luxuriant plants, and greenery mountain, offers an elegant, graceful, and comfortable living space within an urban setting.

The project, completed in January 2015 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, is a result of extensive research and overcoming creative challenges. One of these challenges was the creation of the large artwork "dancing phoenix," which was crafted by mixing precious metals with kaolin made through high temperature. This artwork, symbolizing the grand majestic atmosphere in the residence, perfectly captures the essence of the phoenix.

The Artistic Cultures and Innovations project has been recognized for its outstanding design and innovation, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate remarkable expertise, creativity, and innovation. Pei-Ying Lee's design, with its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, indeed introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
